This year we will be having our school photographs taken by Pagasus Photography.
Our Lady of Lourdes School scheduled for individual photos and class composites on Thursday, Oct 13. Our composites are unique to each child, they are personalized with their own photo for a very inclusive picture program. No money is collected on photo day and the parents will have the opportunity to view a proof prior to making a purchase online with our company. Proofs will be sent home approximately two weeks after photo day. Parents will have their own unique access code and will order directly from our website, no money is collected by the school.

From September 27th until Thursday October 6th, we will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Food Bank. The food will be distributed throughout the Our Lady of Lourdes and larger community to those in need. Thanksgiving is a time to appreciate those around us and give to those who would benefit from our support. Thank you for your donations in advance.
Non-perishable items are those that do not need to be refrigerated. Please also be mindful of the expiration dates on those items prior to sending them in.
We are so excited to be able to run this program again this year.

Dear Parents and Families,
We want to share an important update about school buses. Due to the ongoing bus driver shortage and lingering impacts of the public board’s cyber attack on our shared bus planning software, some routes will need to be temporarily cancelled.
Most bus routes are operating normally. However, some routes are experiencing more frequent and prolonged delays (30 minutes or greater).
This temporary measure will be effective Monday, September 19, 2022 and will continue until Christmas, at which time our need for cancellations will be reviewed.
We understand the significant impact this decision will have on our students and their families and caregivers. Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region (STSWR) does this only as a last resort. We hope that this proactive message will allow families and caregivers to better prepare for and react to the cancellation of bus routes.
Please note that delays have not been caused by our current bus drivers. When they are late, it is because they are trying to support students on bus routes that have no driver, with the best of intentions. They do not have to do this. They are trying to help. Please be kind to them!
What Happens If A School Bus Route is Cancelled?
Effective September 19, 2022
A school bus route will be cancelled when the driver shortage causes a route to be late by more than 30 minutes consistently. Affected students and families will be informed immediately of the cancellation period. Cancellations are done on a week to week basis.
Supporting Student Learning
If a school bus route is cancelled, families are responsible for transporting their children to and from school each day.
Where this is not possible, students should access asynchronous learning materials posted by their classroom teacher on their Learning Management System (LMS), either D2L or Google Classroom. Additional activities can be found here: https://bit.ly/WCDSBIW.
Families should contact their school to let them know if they are unable to get to school. The school can also help families to sign out a Chromebook if necessary.
Stay Informed
Families will be informed the day prior to any cancellation. Cancellations will be posted on the STSWR website with an expected return date.

Our school goal is to have full participation. Each student will run/walk for a given amount of time based on his/her age. We will be participating as an entire school community.

Meet the Teacher Evening:

Welcome and welcome back to all of our OLOL families!
We are very excited to begin this new year with a tradition from years past – our Meet the Teacher night. We are thrilled that this event can be held again. Below, you will find information regarding the evening.
OLOL Meet the Teacher Night is for families to meet their child(rens) teacher, explore the classroom, and gather in community with each other. To begin, teachers will be in their classrooms from 5-6 pm to greet and welcome all families back into the school building. After meeting with your child(rens) teachers, you are welcomed to join other families on the asphalt and back field to celebrate the beginning of the 2022/2023 school year. All teachers and staff will be on the asphalt to join in the larger community for 6 – 7 pm.
All families are invited to order Gino’s pizza to enjoy with your family. Families will need to log into SchoolCash Online to order and pay for the pizza they would like to order for dinner. Gino’s has agreed to a special price for their large pizzas for our families. A large pizza will cost $12, and gluten free pizza will be $17. Pizza options will be cheese, pepperoni, gluten free cheese and gluten free pepperoni. All pizza orders will need to be placed by September 19th at 12 pm. Please know that no late orders will be accepted. Pizzas will begin to arrive, through staggered deliveries, at 5:15 pm and will be handed out on the asphalt as families finish meeting with the teachers. All families are encouraged to bring full reusable water bottles as other drinks will not be provided. Freezies will be provided for all children through funds from the Catholic School Advisory Council.
We are all looking forward to seeing everyone together again to kick-off this wonderful school year!
Due to a software malfunction, STSWR and our bus operators will not be able to post late notices on websites for transportation routes that are not running on schedule. Further, late notices cannot be sent to parents via e-mail or text message as normal.
