Extended Day Program 2018-19
The Waterloo Catholic District School Board is pleased to offer a fee based Extended Day Program for children from JK to grade 6. The program provides children with opportunities to expand their knowledge through a variety of activities. Children will be exposed to situations that will stimulate their curiosity, independence and communication skills. The extended day programs are delivered by teams of Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE) who are members of the College of Early Childhood Educators. They are dedicated to providing faith based, quality, educational programming. RECE’s have an extensive understanding of child development and the skills required to provide an enriched play-based educational program as mandated by the Ministry of Education. Having the same educators from the school day provides a seamless day allowing for consistency and security for both parents and children. The extended day program offers parents a convenient school location, equity of access in a safe and healthy environment for young children.
Costs, program times and payment methods
Extended day programs are available before and after school (e.g. 7:00 – 9:00 am & 3:30 – 6:00 pm), on PA days and during Christmas and March Break where viable. Please note, Christmas and March break programs may be offered at a different WCDSB school if your child’s school is not viable. Programs are run on a cost-recovery basis.
The Waterloo Catholic District School Board sets the fees at a public board meeting. The maximum daily fee for 2018-2019 is $24.00 per day for before and after-school, PA Days, Christmas and March Break programs. Based on bell times, a pro-rated fee is available for before and after school programs. Fees for individual schools can be viewed at www.wcdsb.ca . Both full-time and part-time schedules are available. Full and Part-time schedules must consist of set and recurring days. Fees are based on the child’s registered schedule.
Invoices will be emailed monthly and a variety of payment options are available including most major credit cards. Financial assistance in the form of a child care subsidy can be available to families that meet the criteria for eligibility. Parents will need to contact the Region of Waterloo to apply for the subsidy at 519-574-4400. Parents will be responsible for getting their child to and from the before- and after-school programs.
To provide us with the information we need to plan our program please register online at https://regionofwaterloo.onehsn.com/WCDSB before April 1st, 2018.
As there is no guarantee that before- and/or after-school programming will be offered at all schools, parents are advised not to make changes to existing child care arrangements until program locations are finalized in May.
