October is just around the corner

We will be holding a Thanksgiving Food Drive from September 30th – October 11th.  Examples of items needed: canned goods, feminine hygiene products, oatmeal, cereal, baby formula, diapers, pasta.

From October 10th – November 8th we will be having a Toasty Toes Sock Drive.   Socks are the most needed item for the vulnerable in our community and the most under donated item.  With the cold weather coming, we would really like to support our community.  Men’s warm socks are the most needed.

Thank you FLAMES!!

Wear Orange on Monday, September 30th

What is Orange Shirt Day?

Orange shirt day is an annual event that started in 2013 to recognize the legacy of Residential school system for First Nations, Metis and Inuit families and communities. It is a show of support and understanding of the history of the school system that impacts many First Nations, Metis and Inuit people today.

The phrase “Every Child Matters” reminds everyone that children are such an important and integral part of our communities and that they are our future generations of changemakers. By wearing an orange shirt, we have an opportunity to bring awareness to the history of residential schools and to stand up against other injustices that may impact our children/students.

Student Council Announcement

Every student has been sorted into one of the four colour houses (Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow). In addition, your son/daughter will stay in the same colour house in upcoming years, making it easier for you and your son/daughter to remember their colour! All year, the students will be working with their team (K-8 +Staff) to collect points. There are many different ways to collect points. One way is to participate in our theme days. The theme days will be communicated in your son/daughters monthly newsletters, in his/her agenda, and/or in a newswire. This friday, we have our first theme day which is Colour House Day, where your son/daughter wears their colour house colour to school (shirt, pants, socks, accessory, etc.). By participating, your son/daughter can earn a point for his/her team!
