Eat to Beat Pancake Breakfast
A HUGE thank you to all the OLOL family and friends that came out on Saturday, April 21 to support the pancake breakfast. Together we helped raise $6,177 for the Grand River Cancer Centre. Special thanks to the Grade Seven students for selling tickets, publicizing the fundraiser and serving up pancakes! You made your parents, teachers and community extremely proud and demonstrated to everyone that together we can make a difference in our fight against cancer!
On April 27, OLOL students and staff participated in a Water Walk to support many families in Africa that do not have clean access to water. Tremendous gratitude for your amazing support of our walk! After raising over $2000 for this cause, the We Team has decided to continue fundraising efforts for such an important cause!
OLOL Has Been Running Up a Storm!
New this year is the 100km Club. Students in grades 1 to 8 are encouraged to participate over the lunch recess by walking or running around the perimeter of the schoolyard. For every lap they earn one popsicle stick and every 3 laps is 1km. The goal is to reach milestones of 25km, 50km, 75km and ultimately, 100km! In just over a week, several students have already reached 25km! Way to go, Flames!
This past Sunday, a number of students, siblings and parents participated in our first annual Mud Puppy Chase. Distances consisted of 600m, 3km and 5km. Our top fundraiser remained Clara with an incredible $500, placing her as the 5th place student fundraiser for the entire event!!! A total of $2477.00 was raised for Kidsability and other local children’s charities. It was a fun and very successful inaugural event!
Students in grades 3 to 8 are also training for the Cross Country competition on May 30th at Bechtel Park. Each Wednesday after school, students have been logging distances to prepare for the meet. Keep on running, OLOL!
